What’s the BIG Mistake Most Gurus Make?

Share Button

Hi Samurai – it’s Eugene here!

There’s a fatal mistake in the way most people try to do internet marketing…

They put a whole lot of time, effort and money into building a web-site and creating a product – and then the launch their product with all of the best marketing opportunities available to them (the best affiliates, the best partnerships, appearing on the best sites, targeting the best keywords, etc).

…Only to see their hard work disappear – just after it started paying off.

It’s The Curse of the Launch…

The product makes a huge spike of sales right at the start – when all of the best leads in their marketplace buy.

But it doesn’t take long (a few weeks, or a few months) these best marketing opportunities are exhausted.

The sales dry up, the money dries up – and the only way to start making the big money again is to start again – to put a whole bunch of time, money and effort into creating a new product to launch – just to see the whole cycle repeat itself.

Or they look for other people’s affiliate products to promote – just so that they can get another spike in sales.

Suddenly, You Find Yourself Stuck In A Vicious Cycle

Instead of creating sustainable online businesses that create a constant cashflow for life, without having to work – you find yourself having to work 12-times as hard to create new products, just so that you have something new to sell every month!

It’s a vicious cycle that is so easy to get stuck in.

And even though it works (there are people who make millions of dollars per year living launch-redevelop-relaunch) – living big-hit to big-hit is a harder, more laborious, time-intensive way to make money online.

To be honest, this was one of *MY* biggest concerns with Market Samurai. I always wanted it to be a true online business – I wanted to create something that would grow over time, not die within months.

I Couldn’t Afford To Let All The Hard Work In Market Samurai Go “Quietly Into The Night”

10,000′s of hours of hard work, and 100,000′s of dollars have gone into developing Market Samurai. To see it all go to waste so quickly, and to have to re-create something similar just to keep Noble Samurai running… the thought gives me cold shivers!

So, How Do You Turn A “Spike” Into An Income?

But how do you keep your product burning hot as long as possible – and maximise your revenue stream?

This was one of the big insights I received from reading the Butterfly Marketing Manuscript.

A few months ago, I printed off the original Butterfly Marketing Manuscript to read on a flight between Melbourne and Singapore – and I scrawled notes on practically *Every* *Single* *Page*.

You’re probably hearing a lot about Butterfly Marketing right now – and it’s certainly something I recommend without hesitation.

Why?

Because it’s like taking a “guided tour” of a very successful, very streamlined internet marketing business.

If you haven’t seen the manuscript yet, let me explain what it’s like…

Condense years of experience running a successful internet business – from how to build a successful business from nothing, to how to turn a launch spike into an ongoing revenue stream, right through to how to increase sales in even a mature online business – and put it all into one resource, it what you’ll find will look a lot like what I found in the Manuscript.

There was stuff that we’re already doing, like:

  • Offering a free, partially-complete product to build a list (page 16)
  • Integrating your product into other companies’ marketing (page 54)
  • Getting time leverage in your business (page 104)

And there were also a lot of areas where I thought we could improve in:

  • How to motivate affiliates to “compete”, and sell more (page 61)
  • Making your site “stickier” using forums (Page 65)
  • The ideal marketing funnel structure (page 106)
  • Exactly what resources should go into an affiliate pack? (page 44)
  • Time limited offer on signup (page 73)
  • The value of “carrier pigeons” as reminders (Page 63)

There are also a bunch of detailed case studies of successful marketing campaigns that Mike Filsaime (the author of the Butterfly Marketing Manuscript) did, and even some unsuccessful campaigns and why they failed.

As I say – the resource is literally the sum of years of experience running a successful internet business condensed into 124 pages of information.

And that’s just the Butterfly Marketing Manuscript (ebook) – It wasn’t even the full updated Butterfly Marketing 2.0 pack (which sells for $1995 – but Mike’s going to be giving away for $39.95p&h as part of his latest promo – including thousands of dollars worth of software to IMPLEMENT these techniques, DVD’s, CD’s and course workbooks – something I’ll be waiting in line to get for myself.)

You can download the PDF from here
(Look for the signup box on the right of that page)

As someone who has run his fair share of successful online businesses already, I still got a lot out of it. In fact, I’ve literally been hassling Brent to read this for the past 4 months – long before this Butterfly Marketing promo came up (which is what spurred me to write this blog post now).

Whatever you do, make sure you get the Manuscript.

If you want to get the full Butterfly Marketing course too – that’s great (the $39.95p&h offer includes all of the Butterfly Marketing course manuals, DVD’s, CDs, software, etc). We’ll be trying to get a copy too – even though it launches at 1pm EST on the 24th of March (which is 4am Melbourne time!!)

To be blunt, chances are you’ll miss out.

Mike printed 5,000 copies to give away, which sounds like a big number – but already over 25,000 people have pre-registered for a copy (with just 1 week left before launch). Plus all of the top internet marketers are recommending it too, as I write this blog post – and although we’re aiming to get a copy, we aren’t getting any special treatment – we’re setting alarms for 4am just so that we’re in with a chance to get a copy of our own.

But At The Very Least…

At least download the free Butterfly Marketing Manuscript – the same resource that I printed and read on the plane, and scribbled notes on practically every page.

As I say – it’s the first thing I’d read in a long time that I learned a lot of new insights from (despite running multi-million dollar online marketing projects before) – so I’d highly recommend you get a copy.

I love what you guys are doing and you’re pretty close to having one of the best tools in the current crop of keyword mentality tools.

This post started off really great, until it turned in to an affiliate promo for Mike.
Maybe Butterfly will nail it for a few people. Good luck to them. I’m not saying it isn’t worth 10 bucks.
But I think you really owe it to your readers to live up to the promise you just made in this post. But I’m guessing you can’t! Because NO ONE can guarantee that. But it certainly isn’t held within Filsaiome’s blinkered view. Not that I’m saying you shouldn’t add it to your arsenal for 10 bucks.

But PLEASE let’s be “REAL” here. Let’s stop the IM hog wash of 1 trick pony schemes.
The jigsaw of success is way, way, bigger than this!

If any one wants the part of the answers that I have, then follow my personal blog over April/May.

  2. Until I read YOUR recommendation for Butterfly Marketing, I had planned to pass on this.. but now I plan to be first in line.

Thanks Eugene… I love that we can count on the team from Noble Samurai to always give us the straight scoop.

  3. One word for you eugene… Great..!!
And at least… your market samurai tools..is so powerfull..
    Thanks…

  4. Since were speaking about marketing to day how about a market samuria affiliate program?

PS. Peter 10 bucks, He is charging 30 for shipping and handling for a product that he may have 4 bucks in at the least. Thats with shipping it out to.

Thats why Frank kern will always be a class act he just charges shipping and handling of 10 and still can make a few dollars.

    LMAO @ Peter B.

Criticizing Eugene for making an affiliate plug on his own blog, then following up with a shameless, much less worthy plug of your own…Classic bro!

I personally was hoping for Eugene’s headline- “What’s the BIG Mistake Most Gurus Make?”…to lead into another brilliant way to use MS….oh well…perhaps the MS team will continue to add value to their product after they are finished promoting Filsaime’s product.

    But seriously enjoyed the laugh!

  7. Hi Eugene,

I received a lot of emails about BFM 2.0 recently.

I found out that you really provided a good insight for BFM product.

Guys, worth to get BFM for free but you have to train yourself that how fast you can key-in your credit card number later ;>

    Nice review!

    Kent

  8. Gurus don’t make mistakes. Wannabe Gurus make mistakes by misleading people. Stop misleading people.

  9. Market Samurai is such a great tool that it will sell itself pretty much! Anything that has the quality and usefulness of your software will always be in demand. As for BFM – I think I’ll pass… but, thanks anyway.

    Thanks Eugene,
So does this mean you are at the stage of “oh shit” what do I do now better find an affilliate product to promote? As you outlined in your blog.

I didn’t get it. Your copywriting actually debunked what you wanted to do.

I bought (and PAID) for the first Butterfly Marketing. Sucked in me! Oh and the software didn’t work then. Does it work now?

The interviews (read BONUSES) in the package are very second rate. Mike actually is very glib and shallow in his manual and has very little REAL HOW TO stuff. Lots of real WHAT you should do but you can get that for free of many good blogs today. Not that it’s not good info it’s just not telling you HOW TO do it, and as I said it’s not new and it’s all over the place for free anyway. The HOW To is the paydirt, which is thin on the ground. Which is what all these guys hide or will sell you in the upgrade version. It’s all a funnel man! And it works a treat too, it’s just funny watching it work at times.

I mean the deal is Mike is not giving this stuff away cheap he is signing you into his membership continuity program. That’s the plan! The stuff is the hook. Will you remember to unsubscribe??? He hopes not.

The funny thing was I was thinking of Mike Filsaime as I was reading your blog and almost cacked myself with laughter when you started promoting his product. You described what he does as a business extremely accurately.

Please don’t take this as criticicsm. I love YOUR product Eugene but man oh man this IM is a real laugh at times.

The best to you Eugene, keep having a crack it’s what we all do.

    Cheers
    Andy

This comment started off really great, until it turned in to a promo for yourself.

  12. Thanks Eugene,

Still laughing at the banter in these comments, I also think it’s a shame the post went south, and turned into an effort to create an affiliate spike.

Like Andy, I also do not rate Mike Filsaime products one good thing I got from him was a prompt refund for a product which didn’t work and was still under development. Gates is the undisputed master of foisting off incomplete products and Mike will never steal his crown no mater how hard he tries

Oh yes cheers Mike for the discount on Market Samurai the best purchase I made this year.

    Love Market Samurai

    Cheers Jules

  13. Yeah I have to say that Mike really reminds of of a car salesman! Yep he defined an era with BFM but something about him really doesnt grab me. I reckon there is a lot of material out there that is better. Just my 2 cents.

    Rich

  14. Wow!

Company Registers, I was thinking the exact same thing. Mike seems to be doing quite well but I would never buy anything from him because he didn’t feel authentic to me. It just seems as if he doesn’t care about anything but “give me the money”!

As for Market Samurai, this is one of the best tools on the internet period! I was using the trial version and was UPSET that I could buy the software when it launched.

Thanks for the blog and info Nobles.

  15. Thanks for recommendation an I’ve now got my free downloaded copy of Butterfly Manuscript without problem or catch. Patenting, copyrighting, or limiting access to knowledge online is just simply inappropriate as the GPL is so clearly showing. Keep the recommendations coming!

My contribution is this: ‘E Myth Revised – Michael E. Gerber’ (and I have no affiliate links here). Despite its title its not about E Business, but about setting up a Franchise Business. Franchises are exact duplicates of an original, making this fascinating reading when considering the open source model (it was origianlly released 20 years ago), success of WordPress, and so on. It blew my minds and boy do I wish I’d read this earlier.

Best wishes and MS is still going great on Ubuntu

Funny comments about Mike but bang on, as he used to be in car sales before he got into IM. You can take the guy out of car sales, but can you take car sales out of the man? Obviously not.

I don’t rate Mike at all from the perspective of a past customer/subscriber of his. Like a dodgey second hand car salesman, I always feel like I’m just a number to him when I read his stuff. I don’t get this at all from someone like Frank Kern, where he makes me feel like he cares about me (even if he may not).

All this aside you can definitely learn a lot from Mike, but more from watching what he’s actually doing than everything he teaches/provides. Combine some of his marketing methods with the personality of someone who genuinely cares about their clients (or that comes across as if they do), and someone could be onto a winner.

As for Eugene, I don’t think anyone can criticize the post, because Eugene obviously rates the product (in his opinion), and has done a good job of leading into a sales pitch with some interesting content, not just a copy and paste promo like most others.

  17. Mike is very clear in his tutorials, which makes any of his offers worth considering. But in truth, no information product will make you a penny richer if you don’t act!

  18. Just my two cents added to this list.
I am new at IM but I have learned a lot and I have been taken in before by so called gurus.
This said I love Market Samurai, and I am waiting for the affiliate program to start. The Butterfly Market stuff in my view is a diversion.
If you want to promote it on its own site go for it. It is your prerogative. If you want to tell us you found a great product fine it is your blog, your space. But frankly I think you have a great product that will stand on its own that does not need hype and that we will promote for you given a chance to do it.
Finish the darn thing already and let’s launch it without the guru hype you don’t need.

  19. Hey, Eugene,

No matter what people may say about your endorsement of BFM, you must be so pleased that we all rave about Market Samurai.

You guys are really on the right track, with a terrific product.

I LOVED it during my trial during the 30DC and can’t wait til I can actually purchase it for myself.

Thank you for making keywords, etc. understandable to a mutton-head like me.

  20. 20

Love your product (and your insights),
    BUT-
once you get Mike F. on your computer, you will require a Exorcist to remove him (and his endless upsales/downsales/cross-pitches).

He is just too much (of a good thing?).

    Best Regards

  21. 21

I just downloaded the BFM. I have not read it yet. I WAS reasonably excited about its concept. You guys are all bumming me out with the negativity!

Does anyone have anything good to say about BFM or is it it just NFG (No F%$* Good)?

    Does CPA actually work?

Is there any support for Mike?

    Please advise! Eugene? Your thoughts?

  22. 22

    Bill

Speaking about CPA. Has anyone looked at the “Arbitrage Conspiracy”? It is also a CPA download file. I started reading it, got turned off, and have not yet gone back to it (2 months ago).

Does anyone have any real insight on CPA?

    Bill

PS. It’s still March 22 here in RI,USA.

  23. 23

    Bill

I just took another look at the “Arbitrage Conspiracy” download.

    Guess who it’s from?

Good ole’ Mike Filsaime! That’s right, same sh#T, different package.

What is really worth it? Besides MS that is!

    Regards

  24. Hey ease up everyone!
Market Samurai guys are just doing what they are supposed too !
I have already downloaded this free (nothing in life is free right)
super ebook but I have yet to be bothered to read it. Am I getting wiser ? I hope so.

  25. Frankly I’m amazed that anyone has got the front to come on to someones blog and criticize them about using an affiliate link. Why are people so freaked out by affiliate links anyway?
If the MS guys believe in a product and share their recommendations with us then are they not allowed to get a few pennies back for making the recommendation they would have made anyway?

This is Internet Marketing people, why would anyone leave money on the table for a product that they are happy to recommend? Crazy!

I have often hunted out affiliate links from people I admire before I buy anything and I wouldn’t hesitate to go through the MS guys link if I was inclined to buy Mikes product, as it’s the least I could do by way of saying thanks for the wicked tool that is Market Samurai.

So for what it’s worth, thank you for the review – I appreciate you sharing it. I have decided that I wont be purchasing Mike Filsaimes Butterfly Effect because I have enough info for me to taking action on for now, but rest assured if I change my mind, I will be purchasing directly through your link!

    Nikki

  26. I so agree. One hit wonders do not make a business. Mike shows us all how to keep it going even after a great start.

  27. 27

I’m in a bit deeper than Bill – I got one of “free” BFM kits, and won’t complain about getting it for just the price of postage.
However, it does mean that I’m subscribed to Mike Filsaime’s newsletter, affiliate scheme, etc.
From the above posts, it’s obvious other people have had this experience.
His Customer Service line is automated and his online helpdesk is impregnable.
    Can anyone help me escape?

    Thanks!

  28. 28

Hey Eugene, I guess most of these people don’t understand the concept of reciprocity. All of us “smart” people in IM know that we help each other to succeed. It’s called integration marketing. No it’s not by Mike Filsaime, great guy that he is. It’s by Mark Joyner, another of the great ones. I’m a bit new to IM. But one thing I have learned is that when a successful, multimillionaire market businessman wants to give me ANY information, I will listen. I’m not yet a millionaire, but I guarantee that I will be soon, because they are not just talking about it, they have done it and made it work. They have created something of great value for us all and we should be thankful that they are willing to allow us to share in the prosperity.
If our governments were run by honest market businessman who know how to create value and manage money instead of politicians who create illusions and spend OUR hard earned money, yes, it is not THEIR money, on wasteful, non-profitable schemes to get themselves re-elected and maintain control of us; then our world economy would not be in the shape it is in! Most, if not all of the online marketers I know, DO deliver what they promise and that is ALWAYS of great value. Wealth, as anyone who KNOWS, knows is a lot more than just money. And any info or software is only as good as your ability to apply it and make it work for YOU. If you don’t USE it to make your life better, then it doesn’t matter how much it cost you, it is worthless. Then you will feel worthless.
Start constantly creating value for others and you will understand how much fun life can really be and what it means to have both the time and the money to spend with those you love. That is the bottom line I want at the end of the day! That is priceless!

  29. Very easy use market samuari, just clik, clik made keyword and analize key word, i like market samurai, for people let use market samurai, for make web nice
