Greetings from the Dojo!
Dr Anthony and Ben have made a major addition to the dojo – a full three part training pack for the Promotions Module. Those of you subscribed to the new iTunes feed would have already seen these appear in your Podcasts updates.
When it comes to obtaining top search engine rankings, there are only so many things that you can do to improve your On Page optimization.
If you really want the top spots in Google then it’s vital that you understand the impact of Off Page factors such as your link network.
This new training deals with the tricky and often misunderstood topic of backlinks which are one of the best ways to improve the Off Page ranking factors of your site.
The Promotions Module Training

But what is a backlink?
Where do they come from? Can you keep them as pets?
The new training will take you from one end of backlinks to the other – looking at what a backlink is, how to get backlinks for your site and just how they help you when you have them.
Video #1: Backlink Basics
The first video in the training pack looks at backlinks from the ground up – what a backlink is, how to get backlinks and why different backlinks are valuable to your site.
Video #2: Authority and Quality
Once you’re familiar with the concept of backlinks, Anthony will take you through the relative attributes of backlinks – what makes one backlink potentially more valuable than another. He also looks at some high authority backlink sources, such as DMOZ, Yahoo! Directory and .edu/.gov backlinks.
Video #3: The Magic of Pingbacks
In the third video, Anthony will show you how Market Samurai can be used to set up pingbacks.
If you are serious about building your backlinks then this video is a MUST.
Pingbacks are a type of backlink that don’t require a link exchange with another site, and they can be made quickly and efficiently without fear of Google thinking you are a dreaded “link spammer”.
Using pingbacks will enable you to create a host of strong, content-relevant backlinks – the cornerstone of a good backlink network.
…Practicing the Art…
Once you’ve been through these videos, open up Market Samurai and give it a shot – you’ll find just how easy it is to create a strong backlink network for your site.
But remember – driving people to your site and increasing your traffic is all pointless unless you can find a way to make money from your visitors.
Next week we’ll be looking at perhaps the strongest module in Market Samurai, the Monetization module.
Stay tuned to the Blog!
Alex
P.S. – Market Samurai’s Promotion module is part of the full version of Market Samurai. If you haven’t purchased Market Samurai, and you want access to the Promotion module, click here to purchase now.

Good Afternoon!
First off … thanks for creating a great product and fantastic info!
I have a couple of questions regarding the info in the videos:
1) Though I understand the significance of link quality, I have often heard any backlink is a link whether it is no-follow or not even from the stand-point of SEO. What is your opinion?
2) If you use Pingbacks, does this set-up reciprocal links and if so will this hurt wrt SEO optimisation and page rank?
Thanks in advance for any additional insight …

The Pingback video was educational. Now I know why there’s so much extra ‘comment’ that get posted to my blogs. They are not spam since they contain a bit of my original blog post and I didn’t know what they were. Now I know they are pingbacks.
However, I don’t think I need to know each time a pingback happens since it just makes my comments section on my Wordpress blogs too messy. I wish there was a way in Wordpress to filter out pingbacks.
Dr. Michael Haley SEO said:
I can’t believe the pingback strategy with the publishing to WordPress. I really didn’t think I could learn that much from watching the videos. Afterall, this is my profession! But you blew me away with that one!

Fantastic videos and teaching – easy to understand cos you explain things very well. Thank you

Your backlink tutorials seem to concentrate on blogs. Is this process available for simply the website and if so, what is the process.
Or, are you saying that backlinks must be done through a Wordpress blog that is associated with my website? May I use my Google blog instead?
I am new to this game so please excuse the dumb questions.
Thanks kindly,
Jake

I am a permanent member and look forward to your next comments. They are very helpful to those of us who are trying to find success via the internet. Thank you.

Guys, thanks again for information that is so informative and useful. Noble Samurai is still probably the only software that is worth EVERY cent that was paid. Ongoing vid training makes this company the best of the best. Integrity is a word that comes to mind when thinking of Noble Samurai, not a word used often with SEO companies. Well done.

Does this work the same for non-wordpress blogs? ie, a blog attached to a commercial website? Do you just copy the code and paste it into your blog post on your CMS?

Thank you Anthony and team. I have been struggling with the concept of backlinks for around 18 months as no-one could explain it to me in a way my poor brain understood. Your clear demonstration has finally turned on the lightbulb in my head!
Can someone please show me what a ping to my site would look like in my comments? I have had repeated ‘unknown’ from one IP address. It only shows the IP address and nothing else. I’ve started trashing these. Please don’t tell me I’ve been binning my pings.
A picture is worth a thousand words, especially for me who recently celebrated a big ‘zero’ birthday.
Thanks,
Kathy
PS – absolutely LOVE that I can download these videos to my iphone. Best investment I’ve made in a long time.

As usual, Market Samurai tutorials explain the basics of keywords, SEO and promotion MUCH more clearly than most other sites! Thank you!
And I agree a million % that you should leave good relevant comments on other people’s sites when link building. I’ve had an overwhelming number of rather clever spam comments on a blog that I optimized quite well (it’s good to optimize, of course, but that also attracts the pests who are looking to grab some good links). I don’t approve the comments, so it does the spammers no good, but really it’s quite funny how just a tiny bit more effort on their part might get them a link. I guess some people don’t moderate much so the comments slip through. The spammers can be clever with what they say, but over time you can easily identify spammers because they tend to say the same vague things.

My relationship with you guys at Market Samuari is a bit love / hate.
I love your software it truly is a great tool, easy to use, effective and very modestly priced for what it does.
However some of the advise that you guys hand out is well less than accurate …. here is the bottom line on link value
ANY LINK THAT IS EASY TO GET HAS LITTLE TO NO SEO VALUE !
Yes I totally agree that your readers should pursue the links described here with vigor to take advantage of the traffic that may come your way from posting interesting, intelligent comments but using that in the form or forum links, comments links or ping backs has virtually no SEO value.
Here is the golden rule of thumb, any link that you dont “earn” that is easy to get or is handed out free for all has a value equal to the effort you expended to get it.
I think by now that we all understand that not all links are created equally 90% are a waste of time and money and 10% are pure gold. All of the link building strategies described in this post are a waste of time.

What is so good about your education is that one cant wait to employ the learnings. I think that speaks volumes in terms of the quality of the teaching. So many internet lessons pose more questions than solutions. Everything that you teach is doable. Thank you for making the IM journey just a lot less like a foreign language.

This may seem like a stupid question as it seems all the other commenters have watched the videos but:
Where are the videos? Where are the links to the videos?
(If there are any links to the videos in the post they are doing a damn good job of hiding from me!)
How do I watch the videos without subscribibg to Itunes?
I am already a Market Samurai owner and a newsletter subscriber but I have no interest whatsoever in subscribibg to Itunes. So how do I watch the videos?
I await your response. Thanks!
Wayne.

While I LOVE everything you all produce, I always seem to have a problem when I try to following the instructions. For example, in the PingBack video, the links are not showing up in my blog. In fact, when I go to look at them, the page in my blog is BLANK. When I check the page they links should be on, they’re aren’t there.
Now I’m going to have to troubleshoot this to make it work. (I’m starting to wonder if it’s just me?!?!?!)

I have been working on learning how to create WP blogs, create an online presence, monitizing the site and all of the other million things that there is to learn with Internet marketing for close to two years. There is much confusion and much more B.S.
Market Samurai has come a long way since I first purchased it back in 2008, and it nothing short of amazing! The amount of work it does for you that you could spend hours on investigating is a Hugh help for those who made the wise decision to purchase this fabulous program. The second best thing is the training provided. It is some of the best I have ever been privlidged to have access to, and I have spent hundreds of hours researching and have purchased many programs and applications, the majority of the time, there was much frustration without any REAL support.
Market Samurai Team, you are absolutely the best!

Great videos.
I would just like to add a comment about .edu and .gov links.
This links are treated the same way as all the other links. There is no magic in being .edu or .gov. What counts here is just the authority of the domains. And getting a link on .edu or .gov sites with a lot of outgoing links wont help you much in your sites ranking.
Market Samuray is definitely the king of SEO software courently availible on the market.
Keep up with the great work.

Excellent training Anthony, particularly the speed and efficiency surrounding pingbacks.
Just a thought on commenting on blogs. It makes it much easier if you have a reader (such as Feedly)and use RSS to keep up wiht the flow of a blog. Making comment on a blog requires you to follow it for a short time to see how the comments and style work. This means that when you enter the conversation you’re not like a ‘bull in a china shop’ and as a result destroy your credibility and value to the readers on that blog.

Hi Samurais.
Thanks for the ever helpful tutorials…A question on the Pingback tactic:
You mentioned adding links from POSTS in order to get pingbacks — does this also work for PAGES? Please excuse me if that question makes no sense; I have been struggling to get my head around the difference between the two especially since Posts seem to look like unique Pages since they get a unique URL…
Thanks in advance!
