Do You Access the Internet via a Proxy Server?
If you are behind a corporate proxy, or are required to connect to the internet via a proxy server, you will need to enter your proxy server details into Market Samurai to get access to data.
(Otherwise, Market Samurai won’t be able to connect to the internet anymore – as this new engine is no longer able to use default Internet Explorer and Safari proxy settings.)

Okay, as a fellow programmer I must say this is AMAZING. I know how much effort goes into profiling, finding bottlenecks, spending restless nights figuring out new algorithms and systems to get not only constant, or lineare speed improvements, but changing an algorithm vom O(n^2) to O(log n) or something. Hats off to the coders, testers and coffee/pepsi suppliers.
I don’t know what else to say.. Of course, I am also looking for the new features but speed is even more important to me, which was the reason why we bought Market Samurai in the first place. And now, you put it over the top. Faster tools also mean my ADD has no chance of kicking in, yay.

This is great but to be honest I am waiting for the other features I am also a developer I would not believe that the consumer would pay for extra speed when honestly I was happy with the current speed.

Pleased to see that you are actively developing this, and coming from a good place by constantly trying to improve it.
I actually think the speed up and the proxies was BADLY needed.
Whenever I dumped a load of keywords in it and processed them it would take ages, and would invariably end up in a temporary Google ban.
For that reason I have used it MUCH less than I otherwise would have.
Hopefully now it will be nice a zippy and not get me banned.
The features were always great, but I did think there were problems in those two areas.
Pleased to see you have addressed them.

PS I too would second the ‘Tutorial Videos’ idea. With a program as big as this it is hard to know how to approach it.

I am not getting any results in SEO Competition module. This only seems to happen when United Kingdom is selected in All Countries & Territories.

Thanks for the speed update, and for creating MS. I have a question about the SEO results and proxy servers. If we tick/check “Use Proxy Servers,” are you running queries through servers located within the UK?
Many times the SEO results displayed for a particular keyword do not match the 1-10 ranking that Google shows. For example, inside MS a certain domain will show as position 3. However, if I go to Google and perform a manual search, Google shows me that the domain is ranking in position 1. What causes the discrepancy between MS data and the actual displayed results in Google?
Could the discrepancy in search rankings be due to the location of your proxy servers? I know the SERPS will often differ, depending on which country you’re searching from. Or, is there a delay (1-3 days) in MS data — compared to real-time Google data?

@Chris – Another factor that (oddly) affects search results is what browser you are using.
Market Samurai cycles between several different browser-types when retrieving information. Depending on the one used, you can get slightly different results.
This is a common (hidden) reason why results can be slightly different.
The difficult thing is that neither set of results is technically “wrong” – just both are different.

How about a macro to do a OPEN TAGS ON SELECTED to a GENERATE SEO COMPETITION RESULTS on ALL OPEN TAGS combo? Then the samurai icon the left does a backflip…

Question: Before I always found that i could get the SEOC for around 500kws with out getting a temporary ban with Google and after having got all the results i could run another 500KWs through MS around 40mins later and keep this up all day. With the new improved system, am i likely to have to still limit myself to these numbers, or do you think I’ll be able to get away with more, maybe several thousand instead of 500?
- One error i’ve found is that with SEO Competition analysis I’m getting a yes for all sites for the DMZ column, which obviously can’t be right, well at least not on 10+ kws
I’m using version 0.81.2 and have it set to English all countries and territories.
Future improvements:
-Please, please, please make it possible to use a keyboard command or something similar to select a portion of the kws market samurai collects! This really has been needed since day one. If you need to delete a whole load of kws from the list, doing it manually one by one totally sucks and takes far too long
-Create an option in the SEO Competition analysis module where MS will go out and count how many different domain names have links pointing to each domain and have them added alongside the total number of links. This way we would easily be able to see how many links the site had into it in total and how many of those were from different sites at a glance.
The thing is I’m always finding that a site shows up as really competitive with maybe thousands of incoming links, but when i visit Yahoo it becomes very obvious that most of there links just come from a couple of sites and as a result i easily out rank them when i do some good link building. It only makes seance that Google is not going to value loads of links from the same website as much as having loads of links from lots of different websites, for a start it would be too easy for a spammer to just create some huge sites and get all the links he/she wanted from them.
Another thing would be to look at the website’s IPs, but maybe that would be unnecessary/overkill when you just want to get an overall idea how competitive something is.
