Writing Ad Copy in Under 3 Minutes: No Skill Required

Share Button

For most people, writing effective sales copy (even for a simple ad) takes a long time and a lot of effort.

But most people write their ads the hard way.

They open up a blank Word document… Then, carefully craft a written sales pitch by hand.

It’s no wonder it takes a long time.

If you’re going to write effective ad copy this way, you need 4 things:

  1. Sales Skills – to be convincing in your pitch and make the sale;
  2. Writing Skills – to communicate your message effectively;
  3. Technical Skills – to upload the ad to the web;
  4. PLUS an investment of your own Time & Effort – to make it happen.

Are You a Natural Web Copy Writer?… What, You’re NOT?

Most of us aren’t born with natural talent in writing, salesmanship and technology -

Sure, there are natural Sales-People, natural Writers, and people with good natural Technical skills – and sure, it’s possible to build these skills over time…

But if you’re lacking in just one of these areas, and you’re trying to turn your website traffic into dollars – chances are:

  • You’re Spending Far Too Much Time and Energy Creating Affiliate Ads;
  • You’re Not Getting the Results You Want from Your Ads;
  • OR – You’re Simply Not Writing Ads At All

All 3 options suck, suck, and suck!

But hey – it’s okay!

The 3-Minute Solution to Copywriting Woes…

Writing copy is hard – and it’s a BIG barrier to making money online that stands in MOST peoples’ way…

That’s why we created the Copywriting Tools inside Market Samurai’s New Monetization Module – to make it even easier to make money online.

And using Market Samurai’s Copywriting Tool, you can write an affiliate promotion in 3 minutes flat – without even typing a word.

How To Write An Ad in 3 Minutes Flat:

The secret to being a great ad copy writer is knowing how to COPY great ads ;)

Okay, I say that tongue-in-cheek…

…But think about that for a moment…

If you’re promoting a product (particularly as an affiliate), and the sales copy that is being used to sell the product on the main site is making sales already – it makes sense to use it!

Market Samurai helps you to do this – letting you use “chunks” of existing sales copy as the basis for your own ads.

And the best part is – it takes away the need for sales skills, writing skills, technical skills – and lets you create an ad in just a few minutes.

Here’s how to do it:

Select a Product

As you’ve seen already – Market Samurai helps you to search the 4 main affiliate marketplaces (Clickbank, Commission Junction, Amazon and PayDotCom), filter out the bad offers, and short-list the good.

Choose a Template

I picked a blog sidebar ad here – because I can put this on the side of my blog, and it will appear on every page of my blog – meaning I can monetize my entire site with one ad.

Select a Good Headline

Just scroll through the list until you find a good one…

Then just drag-and-drop in… No Typing Required :)

Insert some Compelling Sales Copy

I like picking a “chunk” of text that gives the reader a reason to want the product – then a chunk that tells them what the product is about – then a chunk telling them to buy.

It’s up to you how you use the chunks.

You can choose to use the chunks as-is (where allowed – which can potentially maximize your conversion rates because you’re using already high-converting copy), you can mix in your own text, or you can take existing chunks and tweak them with your own words. It’s up to you.

Insert a Picture

OK – you don’t have to do this… But it takes like an extra 10-20 seconds… And it looks pretty!

(Oh yeah, and it grabs the readers’ attention too – and more attention means more sales!)

Insert a Button

We have 117 bright “call-to-action” buttons – in red, green and blue – ready for you to insert directly into your ad… Just drag and drop them in.

(Did I mention – more attention means more sales?)

Put In Your Affiliate Link

With a click, your affiliate link gets automatically generated and inserted wherever you have selected.

Tip: I like making practically everything on the ad clickable. Heatmap studies show people frequently click on images in addition to calls to action and buttons, and more clicks means more sales.

You can also obfuscate (hide), shorten, and track clicks on your affiliate links with a click – using one of the tools that Market Samurai integrates with already.

(Tracking clicks is brilliant – because it helps you to work out which ads are working, and which ones aren’t.)

Publish…

Market Samurai will publish to your blog at the click of a button – so you don’t need any technical skills to publish your ad, and there’s no extra time or effort needed logging into a separate system or uploading files by FTP.

…And You’re DONE!

Simple.

Market Samurai takes all of these tasks (tasks that you would have otherwise done manually, with much more time and effort) and streamlines them all into quick steps that you can complete in a few seconds.

HERE’S WHY EVERYONE SHOULD USE THIS TOOL…

Because in just a few minutes, you have an affiliate promotion set up – and you’re turning site traffic into money.

It’s never been so fast (or so easy) to find a product, write an effective ad, publish it, promote a product and make money.

Using Market Samurai, each step in the affiliate marketing process takes just a few seconds to complete – rather than spending an hour (or potentially more) researching, writing and uploading an ad.

Remember…

You’re seeing how much time this saves for just one ad – for one blog – in one niche.

If you’re using niche marketing to earn a full-time income, the process can save you HOURS, or even DAYS – and allow you to monetize dozens of blogs in the time it previously took you to monetize one or two.

And that’s before you even consider the potential $$$ gains.

This is Where Market Samurai Pays For Itself…

The best part is – it only takes a few well-priced affiliate sales using the Monetization Module, and your investment in Market Samurai has paid for itself.

If you already own Market Samurai, this tool is yours already. Use it now!

If you don’t own Market Samurai yet, you can get your copy here.

Edit: A few people raised the issue of copyright infringement in comments below – and whether Market Samurai is promoting copyright infringement.

This is absolutely not the case – and will never be the case. (We’re “Noble Samurai” – not “Evil Ninjas”.)

Let me start by saying: When dealing with a legal issue, it’s important to remember that every country has its own laws relating to copyright – so the only advice I can give here is to say if copyright law is of concern to you, you should get specific legal advice about how to treat copyright in your own specific circumstances.

There are a lot of considerations around copyright – such as Fair Use (how much is copied, how it’s used, whether it devalues the original work, etc).

As someone who runs an affiliate program – we happily give permission to affiliates to use portions of our sales pages to promote Market Samurai, because we want them to make sales.

(This is win-win-win – we win when a customer buys Market Samurai, the affiliate wins when someone buys Market Samurai, and the consumer wins because they get accurate information about what our product does do.)

Remember though – Market Samurai’s Copywriting Tool allows you to “use the chunks as-is (where allowed…)” or tweak and rewrite them. This was specifically addressed in the blog post above.

Don’t be afraid of tweaking and rewriting text – it can only take a few seconds to tweak, edit and rewrite the text inside Market Samurai and make it your own.

And it’s still much faster to tweak and rewrite existing (profitable, converting) sales copy using Market Samurai’s tools than it is to create your own sales copy from scratch, starting with a blank Word document.

But if you’d prefer not to tweak or rewrite anything – do some research on the law in your area, or contact the copyright holder to get express permission to use small pieces of their sales letter to create your own ads.

  1. Brent, pretty cool. Thanks for your tips.

  2. Brent, it’s pretty good if can add the sample of Sale persuasive sentence for reference.

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

When you say adding samples of persuasive sentences – do you mean having little pre-written chunks of text that you can drag and drop into the salesletter?

This is a great idea! I’ll put it on the wish-list.

  3. Brent, we always look forward to your videos and get a lot out of them as they are always very high quality content, and your presentation style has gotten better and better and positively hypnotic!

Keep the great content on maximizing MS!

    Thanks!

Thanks! I’m glad I’m improving my presentation style. It certainly doesn’t come naturally. :)

I owe a lot to Ben G here though – his awesome video editing skills have really helped to create some slick presentations!

(Also, blame him for your girlfriend’s crush. It must be his trick photography that’s to blame ;))

  4. I’m assuming that all of this copy that’s being reused this way is not copyrighted? Or, I should say, there’s some implicit permission to reuse it? Looks like a great tool, outside of that concern.

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

    Good question.

I’ve edited the blog post to add a note specifically addressing copyright.

  5. Love this feature! Nice job guys!

  6. I am just jazzed with the tools. Thanks so much!

  7. Hi Brent, I was just curious if you can point the ad creation tool to an alternate sales page for a Clickbank product?

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

    Yes, you can!

I should do a video about that too.

Inside the Monetization module, when you’re finding products, hit the “Add Product” button.

This allows you to add the sales page for a specific product.

Market Samurai will be able to gather “chunks” from that page too – so you can use the ad creation copywriting tools to help write reviews or affiliate ads for literally any page or product.

  8. I too was wondering about the copywrite issue please?

    Looks great aside that concern.
    thanks

  15. Terrific video and you make it all look so easy. I started a wordpress blog, but can you tell me me how to upload to the side bar after say checking out a clickbank product? Thanks.

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

I’m not entirely sure how to help, because I’m not sure what stage of the process you’re up to here.

If you’re having trouble proceeding through the steps (i.e. moving from finding a Clickbank product inside Market Samurai to creating an ad, then publishing), the button with “>>” on it always gets you to the next step.

If the issue is publishing to a sidebar specifically…

One of the publishing options allows you to publish to a blog sidebar (“sidebar widget”).

This will obviously only work if you have a WordPress theme that allows sidebar widgets to be used. (If you have a WordPress blog with several sidebars, you can even choose which one to publish to inside Market Samurai)

If you still have trouble – let us know and we’ll help you out:

As a compulsive buyer, I have almost every keyword and marketing tool out there but this one beats them all.

As for the price – for people wondering, the RRP is currently $149 – no monthly fees – (although we’re running a special right now where new trial users can buy at $97 – no monthly fees)

  29. Brent H,

Thank you very much for this video. The product is getting better and better with time. One thing I’d like to ask, though, is if about using the widgets. I don’t have a blog. I have a website. Does Samurai enable us to get the html code for the widget, so that we can place it in our pages?

Additionally, can we alter the widget’s look and feel?

    Regards,

    Jeff

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

Does Samurai enable us to get the html code for the widget, so that we can place it in our pages?

    Yes.

There’s a “Copy HTML” button at the bottom of the ad creator tool.

You can also “Copy Visual” to get a Rich Text version of the content.

AND “Save HTML” to save the HTML to your computer’s hard-drive.

Additionally, can we alter the widget’s look and feel?

    Yes.

Market Samurai gives you editing tools to change the colours, styles and sizes of the text, resize images, etc.

It means you can do practically anything – from bolding words, to creating H1 tags, and even highlighting text in HTML.

But for more in-depth changes to the blog widgets in your wordpress blog, you may need to change your site’s CSS (or WordPress Template) because this is what defines the general look and feel of your WordPress site.

How awesome is this, you have made a great product even better.
One of the best software products I have bought ever.
    Clever stuff

    Thanks Brad

  35. What a great timesaver, this, combined with all the other features is a fantastic tool to have.

  36. To Brent Williamz and others concerned about copyright…

It seems to me that it really depends on how you use the tool…all it does is essentially let you do what you would have done before, just in a much more accessible fashion.

Your question is akin to asking whether the general ‘copy and paste’ functions raise copyright issues…and the answer obviously is that in of themselves there is no problem, it depends on what you do with them!

You need to avail yourself of copyright laws. These are some general things I follow myself (but always check for yourself ;-) ) –

As a general rule – If the content is generic, and appears on a number of sites, then you should be ok. Also, if you are only copying small amounts, then this too should be ok (a condition of breach of copyright is that a substantial amount has been taken).

And if you are worried, why not do a bit of homework and check out the source of the content to see if there is likely to be a problem.

Also, bear in mind that this tool also gives you the option of rewriting the content etc, which will clear you up of any hassles in most situations.

  37. Great function indeed. I’m glad I revisited 30DC again this year. These new releases couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I knew that 80 bucks was a good investment last year with only 4 modules but this beats the cake. Good Job!!!

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

    Thanks!

    One question though:

    …beats the cake?

  38. That’s great. Looks very useful but do you have any plans to open this feature up so it can access any website or product on the web? It would be a great way of making up product descriptions for an e-commerce site that everyone else doesn’t already have.

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

    Yes :)

    In fact, it already does…

    Here’s how:

Inside the Monetization module, when you’re finding products, hit the “Add Product” button.

This allows you to add the sales page for a specific product.

Market Samurai will be able to gather “chunks” from that page too – so you can use the ad creation copywriting tools to help write reviews or affiliate ads for literally any page or product.

  39. Brent,
Perhaps the most useful tool in the MS box as yet.
It would seem an easy tweak to change it for the free classified ad (text only) sites; but are they worth the candle? What do you think?

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

    Tell me more about this.

It’s not something that I’d considered before – but I’d be interested to find out what the best way to make this work would be.

  40. Looks very usefull. Is it google safe to copy big chunks like that? ..i guess you guys know your stuff.

    On
    Brent Hodgson replied:

The general rule for any content is simply to make sure you’re adding some unique value to users.

I don’t see any Google duplicate content problems arising from having a few short paragraphs reused from another site in the sidebar of your site. And I doubt it’s something that they would crack down on in the future.

From Google’s perspective – they want good quality, unique information that is valuable to the real people who use Google to find what they’re looking for.

Duplicate content penalties stem from this goal.

If you’re copying huge slabs of text (hundreds of words) – if the only value your site provides is directly copies from other sites – if you don’t have your own content (either mixed in with content from other sources, or as the main part of your site) – then you’ll probably be penalized by duplicate content filters.

If you’re running a “real” website, delivering “real” value for “real” users – you’re doing everything the right way, and Google will love you :)

  41. You guys always blow me alway with every new part of MS. This tool is by far the best of any research tool for keywords and marketing on the internet today. Thank you

  42. Brent top quality once again MS just gets better and better!! i am still very new to this stuff but i must say that you guys make it look so simple and with all the ways you try to improve it for us guys you really do make things easier for us newbies!

Right now, inserting a widget like this is only possible into a blog because only blogs have this type of widget technology.

Raw HTML sites and sites on other platforms we’re happy to work towards if there’s the demand – but it seems a lot of sites are running off WordPress these days.

    Hi Brent,

I hope the Market Samurai team will look into it. An edit “source code” tab would be really helpful. Also for just editing styling, alt and title and margins to an image, as well as for having a target and title for hyperlinks.

Does Market Samurai support drag & drop functionality for images? I am working on a windows-platform, but it does not seem to work. I would be nice to just drag an image from my desktop into the editing kit, as well as just double-clicking on the image itself to insert the styling-parameters.

    Thanks,

Nice addition to a great tool. Did not notice in the video, but is there a way to cloak the affiliate url to make it just a little harder to rip off the commissions? And to just dream a little…. wouldn’t it be nice if the various links were saved in a database on our site to monitor click statistics?

Thanks for continuing to make it better and better.

    Hi

When you talk about focusing on a tight group of keywords you suggest only using keywords that fit into a certain criteria!

With regards to the suggested figure of 100 visits/day are you referring to the SEOT results or the total searches?

I presume you are referring to the SEOT?
If so, should that be the broad, phrase or exact match results as they are all displayed when you export the results?

    Thanks
